1930s Auction gala attire: Think Glamour

Because this year’s Auction Gala celebrates Roberts 75th anniversary, the evening will hew to a 1930s theme. So how does one dress for the 1930s?

For many, the Thirties brings to mind the Depression-era years. But although the economy was in the dumps, the public found an escape in the glamour of Hollywood movie stars.

So when you dress for the Feb. 18th event, think Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Jean Harlow, Rita Hawood, Hedy Lamarr and Ginger Rogers. The men should channel their inner Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogard, Gary Cooper and Clark Gable.

Beautiful gowns, well-tailored suits, Bryl-creemed hair and flawless make-up. You’ll look the part, Dahling.
These are only ideas- period dress is not required.

Rosetta Stone Headsets

The Rosetta Stone program we offer to our children (and parents who buy licenses for themselves!) is best experienced using a headset with microphone built in.  We recommend you have a headset at home for families interested in increasing instructional time in language learning.

At Roberts, we purchased special vinyl covered headsets that are easier to clean to alleviate issues surrounding lice and other communicable diseases.  However, if you would prefer to provide your child with his or her own personal and exclusive-use headset, there are a couple of ways to acquire a proper headset:

*   The Roberts School Store will be providing $30 USB headsets for purchase.  These are the same type of headsets we purchased for classroom use.  An order form will be added to this post and will also come home in the Tuesday folder.  Please turn this order form in to the main office or school store.

*   You can provide your own headset.  Rosetta Stone states that USB connector headsets have the highest success rate with their product and cannot guarantee that the older style connectors will work with their product.  There are several online stores that sell headsets and you can research these and send them in with your child.


For parents who want to provide a set at home and at school a LIMITED TIME ONLY TWO FOR $55 deal is available.
