Don't be late! School starts at 8!Roberts school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and continues until 3:00. Students must not arrive before 7:45 a.m. unless they are in the breakfast program or Extended Day Program. Students may enter the building at 7:55 a.m. Students who are in Extended Day may come as early as 7:00 and leave as late as 5:30.Students not in the Extended Day Program must leave promptly at 3:00.Students not picked up by 3:15 will be escorted to the office and parents called. Daily attendance is taken daily at 9:30. A student must be here at that time to be counted as present for the day. Students who arrive after 8:05 must report to the main office for a slip to enter the class. Persistent tardiness will not be tolerated. Attendance Counts One of our most important duties as parents is to instill good work habits in our children. Research shows that regular and punctual school attendance is essential to academic success. Students are to be in class, ready to begin learning at 8:00 a.m. each day. If a student is ill, he/she should stay home until clear of fever for 24 hours. A signed note from the parent explaining the reason for the absence is required within three days. When a student returns to school, make-up homework assignments and tests will be given. However, there are often enrichment activities which cannot be reproduced. We do not wish to encourage students to come to school when ill, but want to remind parents that al activities and lessons taught in the classroom contribute to successful learning. Roberts receives funding for the year based on daily attendance. Our accountability rating (exemplary status) is also determined using attendance as an indicator. |
